In Revolt of the Masses, Ortega y Gasset portrayed the hyperdemocratic condition of his times, which fuelled the imagination and spurred direct action.
What are rights and freedoms for? What are the limits of the popular will? How do democracy and liberalism fit together? Liberal democracy, the triumphant model in history, as Fukuyama says, evolves over time. Every era finds new problems, limits, previously undiscovered possibilities, and short-circuits in it.
What are the specific problems of our democracies? What about the solutions?
