Cities shape our species’ ecosystem. They are both the container for and backdrop of our lives and the highly complex way humans interact. Even so, they are usually designed for producing, not for living, running the risk of being dissociated from their own essence: to improve the lives of people, no matter how different and how varied their circumstances.
In contrast, a city that listens and observes carefully and empathetically earns people’s trust, understands them, and takes care of them. It generates cooperation and community. This viewpoint is multidimensional and it depends largely on urban development and architecture.
