Anatxu Zabalbeascoa

Journalist, expert in architecture and design

She studied Information Sciences at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and History of Art at the Chicago School of the Arts Institute. She has been writing on architecture, art and design in El País Semanal and the supplement Babelia for over 20 years. Since 2010 she has also had her own blog on architecture, called Del tirador a la ciudad, in the digital version of El País.

Her editorial productions include The New Spanish Architecture (Rizzoli, Nova York, 1993), Vidas construidas: Biografías de arquitectos (Gustavo Gili, 1998), Las casas del siglo (Gustavo Gili, 1999), Minimalismos (Gustavo Gili, 2000) and Todo sobre la casa (Gustavo Gili, 2011).

She has also been a jury member of Spain’s National Design Award, the Gold Medal for Spanish Architecture, the Spanish Architecture Biennale, the City of Barcelona Architecture Award and the FAD Architecture Award, among other awards. She currently chairs the jury for the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize.
