Director of the Urban Planning, Environment and Health Initiative at ISGlobal, and a world expert in environmental exposure, epidemiology and health risk/impact assessment, with a strong focus and interest on healthy urban living. 

He is the director of the international TAPAS study, which examines the impact on health of active transport in six European cities; the Phenotype study on the relationship between green spaces and health, and the SUMA HIA project, on health impact assessment in low- and middle-income countries. He has edited three books published on exposure assessment and on environmental epidemiology and one on integrating human health into urban and transport planning. In 2018 he received the ISEE John Goldsmith Award for Outstanding Contributions to Environmental Epidemiology.
