Spokesperson for Water is Life and of the Movement for Public and Democratic Water, movements calling for the re-municipalisation of water in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area. Water is Life is a platform made up of citizen organisations, such as neighbourhood associations, unions and ecologist associations. Its goal is to ensure that water policies and the management of the integral water cycle in Catalonia are implemented through the public sector and that they enjoy civil society’s participation and control as a democratic and quality guarantee of the service. 

Planas is also a member of the Catalan Association of Engineering without Borders (ESF), a development cooperation association made up of professionals, teachers and students working to ensure universal access to basic services by supporting social change and empowering populations, and to put technology at the service of human development.
