A student of Biology and Environmental Sciences at the Universitat de Girona, where he is writing his bachelor’s thesis on the evolution of greenhouse gas emissions during the COVID-19 pandemic and its implications in the economic and social crisis. 

His concerns last year for the climatic and environmental crisis, in addition to a lack of action on the part of the political class, led him to set up Fridays For Future in Spain with four friends and some university colleagues. 

His essay, El mundo que nos dejáis was recently published by Destino. Barrero works to ensure environmental discussions reach society and that the latter leads the ecological transition we will face in the coming years from a critical, cross-cutting and grassroots perspective.
