Marta Marín-Dòmine

Writer and consultant in memory and memorialisation issues

A Catalan and Canadian writer, producer of documentaries and artistic installations, translator and lecturer in Peninsular Literature and Memory Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo (Canada), where she heads the Center for Memory and Testimony Studies. Marta is currently working on a dictionary of Memory in Europe and Latin America as part of research of an international team of researchers attached to the UB's Department of Contemporary History.

She is the author of the documentaries Argentineans in Toronto and Mémoire juive 1932-1945. She created the artistic installations Je vous offre les oiseaux / Us ofereixo els ocells (MUHBA, 2017), commissioned by the Barcelona City Council Commissioner for Memory in homage to Nazi concentration camp victims. And she also works as a consultant on memory and memorialisation issues.

Her book Fugir era el més bell que teníem (2019), received Special Mention from the Gremi de Llibreters [Booksellers Guild], the 2019 City of Barcelona Prize and the 2020 Crítica Serra d'Or Prize, among other awards.
