Graduate in Modern Languages and Literature from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He worked as a teacher in Portugal and Cape Verde before becoming a professional writer, in 2001. He has written several novels and poetry collections and is a contributor to several newspapers and magazines. One of the most popular novelists in Portugal, he has represented his country on several occasions at international literary events.
