Film maker and cultural and documentary communication lecturer

Film maker. Isaki Lacuesta studies Audiovisual Communication at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and graduated from the first edition of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra’s Master in Creative Documentary. He combines film making with teaching master's degree courses on documentaries at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Bachelor’s Degree in Cultural Communication at the Universitat de Girona, among other things. He contributes articles on films, music and literature to various media publications.
 
One of his latest films, Entre dos aguas (2018), won him his second Concha de Oro from the San Sebastián International Film Festival, as well as seven Gaudí awards. As regards awards for his career, he is the recipient of the Catalan government's National Film Award (2012), the Sant Jordi Award (2002 and 2017) and the Eloy de la Iglesia Award (2010, Malaga Festival).

In 2018 the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris dedicated a complete retrospective to his work. Other retrospectives have been held at the Washington National Gallery (2013), the Swiss Film Archive (2017), the Filmoteca Española (2018) and the Filmoteca de Catalunya (2019). His films have been screened at festivals around the world and at artistic centres such as the New York MOMA, the Lincoln Center, the Anthology Film Archives (New York) and the CCCB.
