Özgür Güneş Öztürk

(Samsun-Turkey, 16 February 1982)

Graduate in Labour Economics and Industrial Relations from the University of Gazi (Ankara), with a Master's degree in Migrations and Social Mediation from the University of Lleida, where she is currently a PhD student at its Department of Geography and Sociology. She was a part-time lecturer in Gender and Society at the Department of Geography and Sociology (2012-2013) and a collaborative lecturer in the Official Master's Degree in Participation and Community Development at the Department of Political Science and Administration at the University of the Basque Country (2012). She later worked at the Escarré International Centre for Ethnic and National Minorities (CIEMEN) as an expert on two international cooperation projects: «The CIEMEN and Ronda Collective Project for Zaidi Refugees’ Universal Right to Health Care» (2015-2016) and «The Dom and Abdal Gypsy Collective Support Project. Refugees and Displaced Persons» (2016-2017). She was also the coordinator of the research project on «Violations of Human Rights Following the Destitution of Municipal Governments Elected in Turkey’s Kurdish Territory» funded by the Department of Global Justice and International Cooperation at Barcelona City Council (2016-17). Her main areas of interest are migrations, immigrant-integration theories and policies, feminist-Marxist theories and finally the political history of Turkey.

She has had articles published on migration policies in Spain in the Turkish Journal of Population Studies, and is the co-author of the article «Nosaltres, les dones. (Re)pensar la identitat i generar nous imaginaris de la nació» published in the book Terra de ningú. Perspectives feministes sobre la independència. She is currently working on the Col·lectivaT cooperative project hoping to continue researching in a solidarity economy.
