Humanising medicine
Doctors are not gods, they don't know everything. This seems obvious, but it is often forgotten. They are people who feel afraid, get nervous and have insecurities, and like everyone else, they make mistakes. And it may be convenient to remember this more often, in order to liberate them from unnecessary pressure that benefits no one, and to establish more sincere relationships between doctors and patients. The British neurosurgeon Henry Marsh speaks to journalist Eva Piquer on how we should consider the doctor-patient relationship, as well as how to rethink the function of hospitals, with the aim of increasingly humanising the treatment of illnesses.
