Xabier E. Barandiaran

Graduate in Philosophy, with an MSc in Evolutionary and Adaptive Systems, a PhD in Philosophy of Science and Cognitive Systems, university researcher and lecturer at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), with over 50 international publications on issues ranging from philosophy of biology to theory of complex systems and philosophy of the mind. He was a coordinator of the https://decicim.barcelona digital platform for participatory democracy and of the Decidim project (https://decidim.org), working on research, development and innovation in the Area of Citizen Rights, Participation and Transparency and as an advisor to the Councillor’s Office for Participation and Districts at Barcelona City Council. He has worked as an activist on the intersection between technology and politics, putting special emphasis on participatory democracy, autonomous movements, free-culture movements and hacktivism.
