Jane Lazarre

North American writer and journalist, author of various fiction and non-fiction books including The Mother Knot (Duke University Press, 1997), her memories of being a mother and the contradictions with her preconceived ideas of maternity. Throughout her work, always based on her personal experiences and family memories, she has analysed other key aspects of the contemporary world, such as the effects of colonialism in the United States, the persistence of racism and the political legacy of communism. Her latest book is The Communist and the Communist’s Daughter. A Memoir (Duke University Press, 2017).
