Carlos Calderón Urreiztieta

(Caracas, 1959)
He trained as an architect while simultaneously studying music and the violin. He subsequently took higher studies in Logic and Philosophy of Science at the Central University of Venezuela and received a Doctorate in Humanities from Barcelona’s Pompeu Fabra University focusing on his research in the field of music, art and science with the framework of a History of Culture. He has taught at institutions dedicated to design and to music, both in Venezuela and in Catalonia, and is a regular speaker at the Palau de la Música Catalana and Cercle del Liceu, among other institutions. He recently had his book El beso y el mordisco (Huygens, 2017) published, as an accessible version of his doctoral thesis on music as a science between the 15th and 17th centuries.
