Against tyranny
The world is immersed in a convulsive and uncertain period. The victories of Trump, Brexit, Putin, Erdogan and the Front Nacional in France share some common features: the rise of the far right, xenophobia, reduced freedom and the demonisation of minorities. Timothy Snyder provides an analysis: all of those movements have offered easy answers to the questions of thousands of people affected by inequality and globalisation. In light of this trend, the historian opts for disobedience, mistrust in simple discourses and fighting propaganda by vindicating the facts.
