Martin Dougiamas

Founder of the open-code Moodle project, which provides a free learning platform used in every country and every educational sector in the world.
As CEO of Moodle Pty Ltd (whose headquarters are in Perth, Australia and in Barcelona, Spain) he runs the company made up of 60 software developers and educators who guide and support the Moodle project (including MoodleCloud, Moodle Mobile and other initiatives). Moodle Pty Ltd has also created a global network of more than 90 companies certified as Moodle Partners which have been helping to provide funding for this independent software project under a sustainable business model since 2003.
Dr Martin Dougiamas has a mixed academic background with multiple post-graduate degrees in Computer Sciences and Education, including honorary doctorates from the University of Vic in Catalonia and the Université catholique de Louvain. He continues to focus his research on how technology can support teaching and learning openly and humanely, to solve the United Nation's sustainable development goals.
