Alfred Brendel

(Vízmberk, 1931)
Pianist, poet and writer. His masterly performances of works by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven have made him an international benchmark in classical music. His professional career has combined concerts with classes on music through talks and essays, such as the ones featuring in Sobre la música. Ensayos completos y conferencias (Acantilado, 2016). He has also explored the genre of poetry, as a creator; he recently published his collection Espejo cóncavo y duende negro. Poesías reunidas y nuevas poesías (Ediciones Alfar, 2018). He was made Honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1989, for his contributions to music in the United Kingdom
