David Van Reybrouck
Writer. Studied archaeology and philosophy at the universities of Leuven and Cambridge and is a Leiden graduate. Excavation and reflection are at the heart of his work. His stories are fed by exhaustive research (through interviews and archives) and plays a vital role in the form they adopt. Besides being the author of Congo, he writes poems and is the founder of the Brussels poetry collective. Since 2011 he has been president of the PEN Vlaanderen association of writers. That same year saw him launch the G1000 project, a platform for democratic innovation that aims for greater civil participation in democratic decision-making.
