Paul B. Preciado

(Burgos, 1970)
Philosopher, art curator and queer activist who is regarded as one of the most influential contemporary thinkers in the field of gender studies and sexuality. He studied his doctorate at Princeton University and continued his education in Paris under Jaques Derrida. In his first book, Manifiesto contra-sexual (2002), clearly influenced by the theories of Judith Butler, Michel Foucault and Donna Haraway, he reflected on the construction of subjectivity and on the social and political construction of sexuality. Subsequently he wrote other essays on similar themes, such as Testo yonqui (Espasa, 2008) or Pornotopía. Arquitectura y sexualidad en «Playboy» durante la guerra fría, shortlisted for the Anagrama Essay Prize in 2010. Previously he was the public programmes director at MACBA and currently he is the curator of the Taiwan Pavilion at the 2019 Venice Biennale.
