The cities of women
In The City of Women, Christine de Pisan imagined a city inhabited only by women. Since the Greek Amazons, our collective imagination has been packed with cities and mythical or fictional places populated exclusively by women. Feminist science fiction made it possible to further expand this field, with stories such as Herland, by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, among others. What do these cities and worlds without men have in common? Are there any examples in reality, or are they simply myths and fantasies? Mireia S. Albrich tells us about stories that speak of women who have sought out feminine places to become free.
