Haydn, or the humour of a refined creator
The composer Benet Casablancas maintains that humour is the manifestation of intelligence and in music, we discover a whole tradition of jokes, parodies, irony and games. Haydn used comic effects, sudden silences and unexpected finales to surprise his audiences. His humanistic side illuminates some of the deeper aspects of the human condition,
Musically trained in Barcelona and Vienna, Casablancas is a graduate in philosophy from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, with a PhD in Musicology from the same university. He has won a number of awards for his work.
