Culture and tourism
In search of common ground
Barcelona has been experiencing a constant growth in tourism for some time. Every year, the number of visitors increases, drawn by the city's many attractions. Inevitably, this has had an impact on its artistic and cultural system, on the creation and programming of entertainment and exhibitions, on the management of facilities and on public policies.
This impact has yet to be analysed in depth. Are culture and tourism compatible? What relationship is established between the two concepts? How are other European capitals tackling the debate?
