Juan Diego Mejía

(Medellín, 1952)
Antioquian writer. His work has revolved around three main themes: Medellín, the university world and political militancy. He was Medellín citizen culture secretary in 2004 and 2005, during Sergio Fajardo’s term of office. Between 2013 and 2016 he was in charge of the Medellín Book and Culture Festival. He has taught creative writing at the National University of Columbia and EAFIT University. Two of his works of fiction that stand out, with Medellín as the setting, are El cine era mejor que la vida (1997) and Soñamos que vendrían por el mar (Alfaguara, 2016).
