J.S. Bach: Spirit and Reason
Bach is not only one of the greatest composers of all time, he is also a cornerstone of western culture. Far from the stereotype of a solitary, isolated genius, Bach cultivated and absorbed the spirit of his time, the political, social and religious avatars of a Europe that was moving from baroque to the Enlightenment, through mathematics, technology and alchemy.
His figure is essential for understanding the transition of a Lutheran society getting ready to cross a bridge towards the world of reason.
