Begoña Román

(Petrer, Alicante, 1965)
PhD in philosophy from the University of Barcelona (1993). She won Extraordinary Awards for her Bachelor Degree (1989) and PhD (1995) at the University of Barcelona. From 1996 to 2007, she held the Chair in Ethics at the Ramon Llull University. She is currently a lecturer in the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Barcelona. She is a member of the research group ‘Contemporary Philosophy and Ethics’. She is a member of the Bioethics Committee of Catalonia, a member of the Bioethics Committee of Hospital San Rafael and the Committee of Hospital 2 de Maig de Barcelona, and she is a member of the monitoring committee of the ethical code of the Catalan Federation of NGOs for Development. She specialises in kantian ethics and applied ethics in professional and organisation settings, areas on which she bases her publications.
